NTL Studio Network Configuration

NTL Studio Management and Remote units

During the initial configuration stages of NTL Studio Management, you may encounter some issues getting the firewall port forwarding to work correctly. This can be caused by issues with the ISP Modem and your internal router. The recommended configuration for NTL Studio is to have your ISP assign you a static, external, IP address and configure your modem for “Bridge” mode, or 1-to-1 NAT. This will transfer all traffic going to your public static IP address directly to your internal router without applying any rules. This will allow for a single NAT at the router level to transfer incoming connections from units in the field over to the NTL Studio Management computer.

If this configuration is unsuitable for your network environment, then you need to be able to set the NTL Studio computer up on the modem’s DMZ port. This will again allow for units in the field to connect without a modem firewall interrupting the communication.
