Long delay when browsing between unit, load or customer records

When a record is opened, the file paths to all files present are verified by the software. Normally this should take very little time, however here are a few things that can slow the process down.

When choosing a storage solution for your audio files, care should be taken to select reasonably modern and fast equipment for the job. Using an older PC with a slow CPU, IDE hard drives and connected to your network with a 10/100MB connection will yield poorer results than a modern, fast CPU with a SATA hard drive and a gigabit network connection. Also bear in mind that the more your file server does, the slower its reaction time will be. If your file server is also serving email, FTP, your website and your SQL servers, those processes will compound the problem.

External USB hard drives are too slow and unreliable to be used as file storage, especially if there are multiple distribution clients uploading to your customers.
